What You'll Do

Madocs Engineering is looking for an enthusiastic apprentice to join our experienced engineering team and develop the skills required to become a qualified Machine Technician.

Working within our precision engineering workshop, you will receive practical, hands-on training in CNC machining, including both milling and turning. You will learn how to set, operate and programme our HAAS machining and turning centres and use Autodesk CAD/CAM software to produce programmes for the manufacture of precision components.

As your skills and experience develop, your duties will include:

  • Learning to set, operate and programme CNC milling and turning machines.
  • Using HAAS machining and turning centres.
  • Use Autodesk CAD/CAM software to create machining programmes.
  • Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Selecting and using appropriate cutting tools and machining techniques.
  • Measuring and checking components to ensure they meet the required dimensions and tolerances.
  • Developing an understanding of different engineering materials and their machining characteristics.
  • Assisting with the manufacture of one-off, prototype and batch-produced components.
  • Learning about conventional machining and toolmaking techniques.
  • Carrying out routine checks and basic maintenance of machinery and equipment.
  • Maintaining a clean, organised and safe working environment.
  • Following company health and safety procedures at all times.
  • Working alongside experienced engineers and developing the practical skills required within a professional precision engineering environment.

This apprenticeship provides an excellent opportunity for someone who wants to build a long-term career in engineering and gain practical experience using modern CNC machinery alongside experienced engineers.
