Are you an organised, student-focused School Librarian, Library Assistant, or Library Technician looking for your next opportunity in a vibrant secondary school? Our partner school in Southwark is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic professional to lead the day-to-day running of their school library and support literacy across the school.
Key Responsibilities- Manage the daily operations of the school library
- Support students with research, reading, homework, and literacy development
- Catalogue, organise and maintain books, digital resources, and library systems
- Deliver library inductions and promote reading for pleasure across year groups
- Assist teaching staff with resources for lessons and curriculum projects
- Oversee library behaviour, independent study, and quiet working areas
- Coordinate book loans, returns, reservations, and stock management
- Support whole-school literacy events, book fairs, and reading initiatives
- Experience as a School Librarian, Library Technician, Library Assistant, or similar
- Strong organisational and administrative skills
- Confident using library management systems (e.g., Eclipse, Accessit, Oliver)
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage students
- A passion for reading, information literacy, and supporting young people
- Enhanced DBS (or willingness to apply)
