Madison Hunt is partnered with a leading European-focused Energy Transition growth equity fund to support the hire of an Associate into its London-based investment team, reflecting continued expansion across its European investment activity. The fund is a specialist principal investor backing high-quality businesses accelerating the European energy transition. Its strategy focuses on growth equity and structured minority investments across sectors including renewable power, energy storage, electrification, grid-enabling technologies, industrial decarbonisation, and energy‑adjacent infrastructure. Operating at the intersection of growth equity, private equity, and real assets, the team combines institutional investment discipline with the flexibility required to structure bespoke solutions in complex, evolving markets. The investment group is intentionally lean, offering Associates meaningful responsibility, strong mentorship, and broad exposure across transactions and portfolio activity.

Role

Associates are core members of the investment team, supporting transactions across the full investment lifecycle – from initial evaluation through execution and post‑investment value creation – working closely with Partners and Principals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Building and maintaining detailed financial models for European growth equity and structured minority investments
  • Supporting commercial, regulatory, and financial analysis across European markets, with a focus on equity value creation and downside risk
  • Assisting in the structuring of minority and structured equity investments, including governance, protections, and return mechanics
  • Managing defined diligence workstreams and engaging with management teams, advisors, and third‑party consultants
  • Preparing investment committee materials and supporting internal investment discussions
  • Contributing to portfolio monitoring and value creation initiatives, including growth planning, bolt‑on M&A, and geographic expansion

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will be a high‑performing early‑career investor seeking to build long‑term experience within European private markets. We are seeking individuals with:

  • 2‑4 years’ experience in growth equity, private equity, infrastructure investing, or a leading investment banking platform (M&A, energy, or infrastructure)
  • Strong financial modelling and analytical skills, with exposure to growth, minority, or structured investments preferred
  • Experience supporting European transactions, ideally involving cross‑border complexity
  • A clear interest in the European energy transition and investing from an ownership perspective
  • Strong work ethic, intellectual curiosity, and the ability to thrive in a fast‑paced, high‑performance environment

Due to the volume and calibre of interest across Madison Hunt’s current European mandates, we are only able to respond to candidates who closely meet the above criteria.
