An established London-based property owner and operator is looking to appoint a Senior Building Surveyor to join their in-house team. This is a high-impact role within a well-capitalised business, offering exposure to a significant pipeline of refurbishment and fit-out projects across a multi-asset portfolio. The position is heavily delivery-focused, suited to someone who enjoys being on-site and actively involved in projects, rather than sitting behind a desk.
The Role
- You will split your time across approximately 70% building surveying (fabric condition, maintenance strategy, technical advice) and 30% project delivery, with a strong emphasis on refurbishment and fit-out works.
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver fabric inspections, defect diagnosis, and technical recommendations across a Central London portfolio.
- Lead refurbishment and fit-out projects from inception through to completion.
- Manage external consultants and contractors to ensure quality, programme, and cost control.
- Work closely with internal stakeholders to prioritise and allocate capital expenditure.
- Play an active role in shaping where investment is deployed across the portfolio.
- Support and mentor a junior team member transitioning into Building Surveying.
The Opportunity
This role offers genuine influence over how capital is deployed, rather than simply delivering pre-defined scopes. You will be part of the decision-making process, helping shape the direction of projects and asset improvement strategies. It is an ideal move for someone looking to step into a more commercially exposed, client-side position with a strong pipeline of work and visible impact across high-quality London assets.
About You
- Chartered or working towards (MRICS/AssocRICS preferred).
- Strong experience across building surveying and project delivery (refurbishment/fit-out).
- Comfortable managing multiple projects simultaneously.
- Proactive, hands-on approach with a preference for being on-site.
- Confident communicator, able to engage with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
