The Opportunity

A leadership opportunity for an experienced Valuation Surveyor to join a busy and well-established valuation practice operating across London and the South East. The team focuses on maintaining and improving the quality and average fee level of instructions, with a deliberate move away from lower level, high volume churn work. The role became available following the departure of a team member to retirement; the business now seeks to strengthen the team with one or two additional hires.

The valuation department is led by a senior and experienced team and currently consists of approximately 5–6 valuers, having previously operated at around 9 team members. The business maintains a strong workflow and long-standing major lender relationships, including periodic revaluation instructions for clients such as Handelsbanken and Jersey-based institutions, with inspections undertaken on each instruction.

This role offers exposure to a broad mix of commercial and residential valuation work, with significant autonomy, hybrid working flexibility, and genuine progression opportunities. For candidates with strong South London & Kent expertise, there is an opportunity to take a lead role in developing and managing this region at a senior level.

Team & Business Environment

  • Established and respected valuation practice with a strong reputation across London and the South East
  • Focused on higher quality valuation instructions and sustainable fee generation
  • Team includes experienced senior valuers and lease advisory professionals
  • Utilises modern valuation technology including Valos software, which automates EPC, business rates and council tax data integration into reporting templates, significantly improving efficiency and reducing administrative workload
  • Strong existing client base with opportunity to assist in client development and relationship management

Role Overview

  • Undertaking a mix of commercial and residential valuations across London and the South East
  • Approximately 75% secured lending valuations
  • No trading-related valuation work
  • Commercial and residential assets ranging from industrial investments through to prime Central London penthouses
  • Investment and owner-occupied properties

  • MRICS qualified & Registered Valuer status
  • Minimum 3+ years PQE within a dedicated valuation role
  • Proven experience undertaking Red Book secured lending valuations
  • Experience across both commercial and residential property sectors
  • Commercial awareness with an understanding of fee generation expectations, typically operating at approximately 2.5–3x salary multiple
