We are seeking a reliable, professional, and proactive Security Officer to join our team at a vocational college in Bury, Manchester. The successful candidate will contribute to maintaining a safe, welcoming, and supportive environment for students, staff, and visitors.
This role requires a strong presence on site, excellent interpersonal skills, and a commitment to safeguarding young people and vulnerable adults. You will work as part of an established on-site security team, taking direction from the on-site Supervisor and acting as an ambassador for safety, professionalism, and positive engagement.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide a visible and approachable security presence across the college campus.
- Monitor for suspicious activity, unauthorised access, or behaviours of concern, taking proactive steps to address issues in line with college procedures.
- Support a safe and positive environment for students by maintaining a personable and pastoral-aware approach, while respecting professional boundaries.
- Follow all safeguarding protocols and report concerns promptly.
- Assist with access control, visitor management, and incident reporting.
- Work effectively within a team and follow instructions from the on-site Supervisor.
- Respond to emergencies calmly and professionally.
- Ensure compliance with all site and organisational policies.
Enhanced DBS (EDBS) check, (Child and Adult Workforce level) issued within the last 12 months (or willingness to obtain a new one).
Ability to demonstrate professionalism, reliability, and strong communication skills.
Ability to work various hours as required by the site.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Original Right to Work documentation must be provided.

- SIA Door Supervision Licence (preferred, but not mandatory). SG Licence accepted
- Previous experience working as a Security Officer within the education sector or a similar environment.
