We are seeking an experienced Site Manager to oversee small-to-medium scale building and refurbishment projects at Stansted Airport. This is a hands-on, all-rounder position requiring strong knowledge of both internal and external works, with a focus on smaller builds such as security huts, welfare facilities, and toilet refurbishments. The ideal candidate will have previous experience working within live airport environments or other secure operational facilities, demonstrating the ability to manage projects safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day site operations, ensuring works are delivered safely, on time, and within budget.
- Coordinate and supervise trades, subcontractors, and suppliers.
- Oversee all aspects of internal and external building works – including small shed builds, hut installations, and refurbishments.
- Ensure all works comply with airport health, safety, and security standards.
- Liaise with project managers, design teams, and client representatives to maintain clear communication and project progress.
- Monitor site quality, progress, and cleanliness, ensuring snag-free delivery.
- Manage site documentation including RAMS, permits, and daily records.
- Assist with short-term programming, materials procurement, and logistics planning.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Site Manager on small-to-medium construction or refurbishment projects.
- Strong knowledge of both internal and external works, including finishes, fit-out, and civils.
- Experience managing multiple trades and small subcontractor teams.
- Excellent understanding of H&S and site compliance requirements.
- DBS clearance or ability to obtain one.
- Airport project experience (airside or landside) is a distinct advantage.
- Valid SMSTS, CSCS, and First Aid certifications.
- Strong communication and organisational skills with a proactive, problem-solving attitude.
