We are seeking an experienced Freelance Health and Safety Advisor to support our construction projects across Hertfordshire on a maternity cover basis. This is a part-time freelance role (days per week negotiable), with the potential to extend beyond the initial 6-month period. You will be responsible for ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation across multiple construction sites, providing advice and guidance to project teams, and supporting the implementation and continuous improvement of H&S policies and procedures. Key Responsibilities * Conduct regular site inspections and audits across various construction projects. * Provide health and safety advice to site and project management teams. * Support with risk assessments, method statements (RAMS), and construction phase plans. * Ensure compliance with CDM 2015 Regulations and other relevant H&S legislation. * Investigate incidents and near-misses, prepare reports, and recommend corrective actions. * Deliver toolbox talks and site inductions as required. * Liaise with external consultants, contractors, and enforcing authorities. * Keep up to date with changes in legislation and best practice guidance. Requirements * NEBOSH Construction Certificate (or equivalent) – Essential * Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar H&S advisory role within the construction industry * In-depth knowledge of CDM 2015 Regulations * Strong communication and interpersonal skills * Ability to work independently and manage own time effectively * Full UK driving licence and access to own transport – travel across sites in Hertfordshire required * Membership of IOSH (TechIOSH or above) – desirable
