We are seeking an experienced Senior Design Manager to join a major new build prison project in Erlstoke. This is a high-profile scheme requiring a strong background in secure government projects and the ability to manage complex design processes from pre-construction through delivery.
This is a full-time, site-based role (5 days per week in the office), working closely with the project team to ensure design coordination, compliance, and programme delivery.
Responsibilities- Lead and manage the design process across all project stages
- Coordinate multidisciplinary design teams including consultants and subcontractors
- Ensure design information is delivered on time, within budget, and to programme
- Manage design change, risk, and technical compliance
- Liaise with client, stakeholders, and internal teams
- Ensure all design output meets MoJ requirements and relevant regulations
- Oversee design reviews, buildability, and value engineering processes
- Support the project team in resolving design and technical issues
- Proven experience as a Senior Design Manager on large-scale construction projects
- Essential: Previous Ministry of Justice (MoJ) project experience
- Strong understanding of design management across all RIBA stages
- Experience delivering complex, secure or public-sector schemes
- Excellent communication, coordination, and leadership skills
- Ability to work full-time on site (5 days per week)
- Mandatory: BPSS Clearance (must already be in place)
