MadiganGill are currently seeking an experienced Earthworks Engineer to join our team for an exciting project in Didcot, Oxford. This initial 6-month assignment will lead to a new project just down the road, offering up to 2 years of continuous work. Key Responsibilities
- Setting out levels for earthworks and ensuring accurate measurements for excavation, grading, and soil stabilisation.
- Conducting moisture testing on soil to ensure it meets project specifications for compaction and stability.
- Oversee and manage the earthworks phase of the project, ensuring all activities meet quality, environmental, and safety standards.
- Work closely with the project manager, surveyors, and site teams to coordinate activities and ensure the project progresses on schedule.
- Ensure all earthworks activities comply with project specifications, regulations, and health and safety requirements.
- Carry out inspections and site assessments to monitor progress and resolve any issues related to earthworks.
- Provide technical advice and direction to contractors and other site personnel.
- Prepare daily reports and maintain accurate project documentation.
- Manage and direct earthworks teams on-site, ensuring they have the necessary resources and tools.
Key Requirements
- Proven experience as an Earthworks Engineer, with a strong background in setting out levels for earthworks projects.
- Experience conducting moisture testing and interpreting results to ensure soil conditions meet project requirements.
- A valid CSCS card (preferably with the appropriate level for your role).
- Previous experience with earthworks design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D) is advantageous.
- Strong understanding of geotechnical engineering, soil mechanics, and earthworks design.
- Ability to manage and supervise contractors, ensuring that work is carried out efficiently and to a high standard.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with various stakeholders on site.
- A proactive approach to problem-solving and the ability to work independently.
- Full driving license and reliable transport to travel to and from the site (preferred)
