Leadership role at a growing SME specialising in renewable energy. No existing IT departmentâresponsible for driving digital transformation, automation, and operational efficiency across multiple rural/national sites. Immediate focus on auditing and mapping the company's digital/IT infrastructure, identifying quick wins and longerâterm modernisation plans.
Key responsibilities:
- Assess current systems (Excel, SCADA/plant controls, CRM, SAP, legacy spreadsheets, and disparate systems).
- Modernise and unify technology/processes for scalability, data quality, and efficiency.
- Drive change in culture and technologyâwork closely with HR, CEO, and senior leadership.
- Prepare the business for potential acquisitions, including due diligence and integration of acquired systems.
- Deliver measurable improvements in automation, plant uptime, risk reduction, revenue, and cost base.
Preferred experience/skills:
- Significant experience with change projects in SME/multiâsite operational/manufacturing environments.
- Handsâon with both operational tech (SCADA, telemetry, plant, and engineering maintenance systems) and business IT (SAP, CRM).
- Can successfully introduce and embed AI/dataâdriven decision making, automation, and process improvements.
- Strong stakeholder management, communication, and "canâdo" attitude; able to work in a rural, nonâcorporate environment and drive buyâin from operational teams.
- Will work closely with the CEO and may eventually form/lead an IT/data team, depending on acquisitions and growth.
Initially, a sixâmonth contract (day rate), with potential to become permanent. Immediate/ASAP start possible; latest preferred start midâFebruary.
