WE'RE LOOKING FOR INSIGHT, PARTNERSHIP & PRECISION. The Commercial Finance Business Partner role is a key member of the Finance Team, reporting to the Finance Director and working closely with the other members of the wider Made Thought team. The person will provide business partnering support to the Finance Director in all the monthly, annual, and ad hoc financial performance and planning activities of the business. Important to this role is analysing key financial data and providing insights that allow senior management to understand how the business is performing while identifying key areas for improvement. Attention to detail while the ability to understand the big picture is key to the success of this role, you will be required to examine and evaluate cost efficiencies as well as report back on project performance and business performance as a whole. You must also show a willingness to get involved in the day-to-day running of a busy and exciting design studio.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Leading the revenue recognition process and documentation for the UK and US studios in accordance with IFRS15.
- Month end preparation of all accrued and deferred income accounting.
- Support and monitoring of the studio revenue forecasts and partnering with Client Services team.
- Monthly revenue variance analysis to budget for flash reporting.
- Monitoring of job performance, budget reconciliation and closure process.
- Production of monthly profitability reporting, providing insights and analysis of performance and trends for senior management.
- Support the development of implementation of commercial strategy.
- Work alongside the Finance Director to develop in depth KPI analysis and update models as required.
- Preparation of weekly performance charts, forecasts and dashboards for the Client Services and Growth Teams.
- Work alongside the Finance Director to ensure robust financial controls are in place.
- Partnering with senior business stakeholders, reviewing investment cases and influencing decision making.
- Provide commercial and financial insight and support to Client Services team on capacity, team and client performance.
- Assist with the preparation of monthly board packs.
- Assist with External Reporting requirements for our stakeholders.
- Overseeing the invoice process of accounts receivable to ensuring invoices raised align to SOW's and contractual terms.
SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Bring a positive and can-do attitude to all tasks, and be pro-active in facilitating expectations on the Finance Team.
- Be eager to constantly develop and embrace challenges with a view for development and learning within the team.
- Good communication is key to this role, both with internal team and external clients as a representative of the Studio.
- Have the ability to multi task, be able to prioritise and maintain balance at all times.
- Bring experience of working within a strong team and demonstrate support and assistance to team members.
EXPERTISE
- Experience of working in a creative industry preferred.
- Ideally qualified ACA, ACCA, CIMA or QBE with a professional accountancy qualification, will consider other relevant qualifications.
- Advanced Excel/Google Sheets skills and knowledge.
- Comfortable with Pivot Tables, Vlookups, Charts, SumIfs & Conditional Formatting.
- Experience and an understanding of Paprika is a benefit or a similar job costing tool.
