Our Senior Strategy & Change Practitioners are responsible for delivering on strategically significant client engagements across our portfolio of public sector clients. About the role
Senior Strategy & Change Practitioners help teams deliver lasting, valuable change. They design, shape, and deliver approaches to change and strategy development. The role will identify, evaluate and recommend options, working closely with client partners and delivery teams. The role holder will be confident in engaging clients at all levels, and experienced at tailoring communication to stakeholders’ needs and working with them to build relationships. Strategy and Change Seniors have experience in working in digital transformation programmes with multidisciplinary teams including product, delivery, User Centred Design, and technical roles. They prepare the business for the changes delivered by the project, act as a bridge between the project and business users, and ensure that activities are planned and completed to help the business implement the agreed change and realise the benefits. The role works within complex business scenarios, translating business drivers, goals and constraints into business outcomes, to define required capabilities that will enable our clients to expedite organisational change.
Key responsibilities
- Supports a Strategy and Change Lead to design and implement change approaches and lead business change activities
- Provides advice and support to our teams and our clients, helping to shape design and delivery of transformation initiatives covering a wide range of topics: cost reduction, workforce transformation, new operating models, customer/user experience strategy, business change communication & enablement, AI/data transformation, and supporting the creation of business cases and relevant proposals for change
- Identifies and classifies stakeholders, ensuring their inclusion in the stakeholder engagement plan, and leads engagement through developing communication products
- Identifies, qualifies and updates business readiness criteria across areas of responsibility before implementation
- Devises ways to track adoption and reports to senior stakeholders
- Familiar with a range of strategy frameworks and can apply them to the client context for the best outcomes
- Champions best practices and provides expert advice to team members and the Strategy & Design community
- Assesses and understands the impact on stakeholders to enhance their adoption of the change
- Identifies new business opportunities and raises them with delivery and account teams, providing strategy and change responses for bids and proposals
- Helps to promote better integration of the Strategy and Change practice across Made Tech
- Contributes to the Advisory and Change practice through developing tools, templates, and training
Skills, knowledge and expertise
- Transformation: Experience of working in a transformation team to deliver valuable, lasting change. Able to combine an understanding of digital technologies with the ability to manage, interpret and utilise data to make informed decisions, improve efficiency and achieve outcomes and benefits. Working knowledge of best practice change methodologies. Working knowledge of business transformation and strategy frameworks and methodologies. Ability to create compelling visions and maintain roadmaps for change. Familiarity with how change happens in the Public Sector, for example the GDS Service Manual.
- Consulting: Clearly articulates client ambitions, collecting insight, delivering analysis and problem resolution. Ability to collect, evaluate and recommend options for transformation. Ability to identify and amend appropriate frameworks and methodologies to enable a consistent and efficient approach to delivery at all stages of the lifecycle. Willingness to build knowledge of wider Strategy and Design capabilities – business analysis, service design, product management, experience design.
- Organisational Change Management: Executes a change management approach and plan in collaboration with sponsors, users and project teams. Creates and implements action plans to ensure everything is ready for the change before going live. Gathers feedback to allow timely improvements to the change management plan and approach, assesses risks and takes preventative action. Ability to systematically identify and monitor risks and issues, planning how to mitigate or respond to those risks and issues and implementing the responses. Desirable: experience of applying behavioural insights to public sector work.
- Stakeholder Relationship Management: Ability to systematically identify, analyse and communicate with stakeholders, using appropriate channels, to ensure all those impacted by the change are engaged, taking account of their levels of influence and particular interests. Comfortable offering alternatives to stakeholders. Supports business decision‑making processes; captures and disseminates technical and business information.
