For Companies Lead Software Engineer â Technology (London, UK)Made Tech is building humanâcentred technology that improves public services. We are looking for a Lead Software Engineer to drive cloud, automation, tooling and culture as a tech lead, architect and mentor across multiple delivery teams.
About the roleWe write custom software for local and central government, health and other public sector clients. We deliver outcomeâbased solutions using cloud automation, DevOps culture and infrastructureâasâcode.
Responsibilities
Lead and coach engineering teams to deliver highâquality, cloudânative solutions for public sector customers.
Own architecture, tooling, CI/CD pipelines, and ensure secure, scalable deployments on AWS.
Drive outcomeâbased delivery by collaborating with product, design and business stakeholders.
Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of continuous learning and open communication.
Advise on platform strategy, automation practices and technical excellence across teams.
Qualifications
8+ years of software engineering experience with strong cloud (AWS) and infrastructureâasâcode skills.
Experience leading fullâstack, polyglot teams and coaching teams in a true DevOps mindset.
Proven expertise in architecture design, CI/CD, containerisation (Docker, Kubernetes), and automation (Terraform, OpenAPI).
Handsâon experience with AWS Lambda, stateâful services avoidance and serverless patterns.
Strong delivery track record in an agile environment and cloudânative applications.
Excellent communication, mentoring and peopleâmanagement skills.
Nice to have
Consultancy experience and working directly with customers and users.
Pair programming, testâdriven development and experience building CI/CD pipelines.
Experience with Terraform, CloudFormation, and other IaC technologies.
Experience with React ecosystem and componentâbased UI design.
Knowledge of security clearance (SC) eligibility.
