Weightlifter Bodies Ltd is a leading OE manufacturer of highly bespoke tipping trailers and tipping bodies, serving the agriculture, aggregate, waste and haulage sectors. As their group continues to grow, they are looking for a driven and detail-oriented Group Buyer to support procurement across their two brands; Weightlifter Bodies and PPG Fabrications.
This role will work across their Scunthorpe and Wisbech manufacturing sites, playing a critical part in managing supplier relationships, controlling costs, and ensuring materials meet the high standards required for their bespoke engineering products.
Key Responsibilities- Procure key engineering commodities including sheet metals (5000 series aluminium sheet & extrusion, S355 grade steel) and related materials.
- Coordinate and manage sub-contract services such as laser cutting, pressing, and fabrication processes.
- Work from technical specifications, engineering drawings, and Bills of Materials (BOMs) to ensure materials are sourced accurately.
- Maintain a strong attention to detail, verifying specifications and ensuring correct materials are procured.
- Proactively manage and develop the supply chain, negotiating pricing, improving credit terms, and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
- Deliver measurable savings against an annual spend exceeding £7m.
- Support supply chain expansion while building strong relationships with key suppliers.
- Experienced in procurement within a manufacturing or engineering environment (Ideally CIPS qualified).
- Comfortable working with technical drawings, specifications and BOMs.
- Tenacious, commercially minded and target-driven, with a proven ability to secure best value from suppliers.
- Methodical, organised and detail-focused.
- Willing to travel between our Scunthorpe and Wisbech sites as required.
