Position Summary
They are searching for a skilled and creative‑minded team member to fit and assemble complex machine unit assemblies such as spindles, clamps, automation, lubrication, pneumatics, hydraulics, and other mechanical sub‑assemblies using assembly drawings and schematics.
Working in collaboration with the Manufacturing Manager, the Mechanical Build/Fitters ensure that each unit and machine is built on time to meet the production schedule.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Fitting and assembly of various unit assemblies using assembly drawings.
- Reading detailed hydraulic, lubrication and pneumatic schematics.
- Installation of hydraulic, lubrication and pneumatic systems.
- Integrating vendor automation, conveyors, robots and guarding.
- Communicating any problems with parts to the build and engineering department.
- Onsite installation, upgrades and breakdown of machinery at customers’ premises in the UK and worldwide.
- Communicating with customers in a professional and knowledgeable manner.
- Inspecting parts from a drawing using various inspection equipment.
- Operating machine shop equipment such as Miller, Lather, surface grinder, etc.
- Continuously reviewing and improving engineering processes.
- Contributing to MTI’s upfront planning initiative.
- Assisting in developing strategies and processes to ensure on‑time delivery of equipment, cost reduction opportunities and performance improvements.
- Promoting cultural values and behavior in others (respectful, purposeful, integrity, collaborative, adaptable, positive attitude, excellence, effective communication).
- Occasionally supporting MTI’s subcontract department with machine breakdowns, machine operations and pre/post machining.
- Performing other assignments as requested by supervisor or manager.

- Required Education and/or Experience
- City and Guilds Mechanical Engineering and/or BTEC Mechanical Engineering.
- Machine Tool Fitter experience.
- Bespoke machine building experience, preferred.
