Imperial Recruitment Group are delighted to announce that we are working as an exclusive retained partnership with Made for Trade, the UK’s largest and most respected manufacturers of aluminium roof lanterns and bi-folding doors. The launch of their brand-new manufacturing and logistics site in Northampton has led to the recruitment of a Fleet & Loading Supervisor on a permanent basis.

ROLE SUMMARY: The Fleet and Loading Supervisor reports directly to the Transport Manager (TM) and is responsible for supporting the TM with the day-to-day management of the Transport Department to ensure an efficient operation in achieving business targets. The Fleet and Loading Supervisor provides leadership to the delivery team, coordinating their workloads and offering support to ensure that the team delivers on time, every time, thereby ensuring standards are met to meet the requirements of the customer. Additionally, the Fleet and Loading Supervisor assists the Transport team in dealing with customer and driver queries in a timely fashion.
DUTIES ARE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:
- Loading and Delivery: Working with Transport Planner in assessing agency driver requirements and booking required drivers to support with delivery plan. Provide assistance to Loading Team with loading of completed product onto the delivery fleet. Assist Loading Team in ensuring all checks are carried out on the delivery fleet prior to deliveries being made. Liaise closely with Fleet Coordinator with loading of completed product onto the delivery fleet. Hold a Class 1 licence to assist with vehicle movements. Hold, or be prepared to work towards, Class B2 Forklift Licence. Hold or be prepared to work towards, ALLMI Lorry Loader (HIAB Crane) qualifications to assist with loading operations.
- Compliance: Comply with all HSE and company-specific policy and regulations related to loading and to the proper performance of day-to-day activities. Follow company procedures for accounting for all items dispatched and recording damages and missing items accurately. Assist the TM in managing HR, non-compliance and disciplinary issues within the driver team and acting as a main point of contact regarding driver sickness, accidents and vehicle issues. Ensure delivery team are completing vehicle pre-checks within Company policy guideline, and escalate any incidents of non-compliance to the TM. Complete weekly driver/vehicle audit to ensure both legal and Company compliance. Deliver toolbox talks to the driver team in collaboration with the TM and record driver sign-offs. Ensure delivery team are complying with the correct defect reporting process. Reporting all non-compliance matters for repair. Assist the TM in compliance with all DVLA, WTD and company-specific regulations related to driver infringement management. Monitor the Davis system for automated driver licence checks and report any issues to TM. Ensure vehicle and driver folders are kept up to date. Ensure all vehicle servicing, MOT, RBT and LOLER tests take place in line with servicing schedule.
- HSE + Training: Ensure all work conducted by the delivery team is in accordance with good HSE practice. Undertake any training as deemed necessary by the Transport Manager (First aid, IOSH). Adhere to all Health and Safety policies as detailed in the Company handbook. Ensure the delivery team are wearing the correct and serviceable PPE, to reduce accidents. Ensure work areas are kept tidy and hazard free. Ability to identify knowledge gaps within the team and arrange for appropriate training to take place. Provide training sessions for new starters as required. Adhere to all Health and Safety policies and reporting, including, but not limited to, carrying out accident investigations. Provide training to other members of the team on the labelling and dispatch process to ensure service levels are maintained during periods of absence. Assist Loading/Factory teams in completing daily yard walks to ensure cleanliness, reduce any potential hazards and ensure equipment is maintained and secured correctly.
- Administration: Assist in the planning of daily workloads, ensuring that the delivery team and company resources are utilised efficiently. Support the Transport Planner with route planning. Take ownership of the dispatch and labelling process for all products leaving the production facility. Support in ensuring that all information on ERP System is correct and up to date. Support in responding to all communications including emails, telephone calls, messaging, etc as required. Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviours expected of them. Communicate effectively with customers and the delivery team. Ensure delivery team are following the correct vehicle cleaning process, to maintain standards and report back to TM on any issues of non-compliance. Submit drivers working times to payroll in order to ensure correct payments are made.
- Leadership: Communication with other team departments where required to make them aware of issues which may affect their teams. Holding meetings/team briefs regularly to keep staff informed and participate in daily Transport team briefings. Consistently promote high standards through personal example and roll out through the team so that each member of the team understands the standards and behaviours expected of them. Challenge non-conformance within own team and MFT staff within loading bay. Communicate with the loading team effectively and ensure team members understand the importance of their role in the process and how it can affect other teams. Take leadership on vehicle and personnel movements within yard.
- Continuous Improvement: Feedback to the Transport Manager to share ideas and implement continuous improvement activities along with process and procedure improvements to optimise results and improve quality of delivery, in line with quality standards requirements and delivery in line with Company and Customer requirements. Assist in the continuous growth of the department using their knowledge and experience of the loading and dispatch process. Undertake any training as deemed necessary by the line manager (First aid, IOSH).
