With over 17 years of experience within the Commercial Offsite Fabrication industry, our client has established themselves as a market leader in this sector. They specialise in the design, supply and installation of a wide range of prefabricated energy solutions. Located centrally between Dublin and Belfast on an 8.5-acre Head Office and fabrication site.

Location: Head Office, Banbridge

Hours: Monday-Thursday 8am-5pm and Friday 8am-3pm

Role Overview:

The Plant/Asset Manager will be responsible for managing and overseeing the physical assets within the business (Heavy plant and Machinery). The role focuses on the optimal performance, maintenance, tracking and safety of all company plant/machinery, while managing costs and compliance with industry regulations to ensure operational efficiency.

Performance Monitoring & Reporting:

  • Manage detailed records of all plant assets, including equipment, machinery, tools, and infrastructure.
  • Prepare reports for senior management on machinery performance and improvement plans for future.
  • Generate reports and data regarding asset performance and status.
  • Implement key performance indicators (KPIs) to track machine efficiency and reliability.
  • Maintain detailed records of maintenance schedules & repairs/inspections.
  • Provide input on capital expenditure planning and future equipment needs.
  • Work to secure direct supply from approved vendors in line with company plant specifications.

Machinery Operations & Maintenance:

  • Oversee the operation, maintenance, and servicing of all company plant, machinery and equipment.
  • Coordinate with external suppliers, contractors, and service providers to develop and implement preventive and predictive maintenance programs to minimise downtime.
  • Collaborate with the fabrication teams to improve machinery efficiency and longevity.
  • Combination of office and site-based work, with regular visits to operational areas.

Budgeting & Cost Control:

  • Develop and manage the machinery maintenance budget, ensuring cost-effectiveness.
  • Analyse operational costs and identify opportunities for savings and efficiency.
  • Monitor asset-related expenditures and help control costs by optimising the use of existing equipment.
  • Provide input on capital expenditure planning and future equipment needs.
  • Work with the finance team to ensure that asset-related costs align with the plant’s budget.
  • Optimise procurement strategies for spare parts, tools, and maintenance services.

Vendor & Supplier Management:

  • Negotiate contracts for machinery leasing, servicing, and spare parts procurement.
  • Ensure high-quality service and parts are sourced within budget constraints.

Compliance & Safety:

  • Ensure all machinery meets legal and regulatory safety standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments and enforce compliance with health and safety protocols.
  • Ensure that there is training in place to enhance technical skills and safety awareness.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise:

  • Strong leadership and team management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities.
  • Knowledge of health and safety regulations related to plant machinery.
  • Effective communication and stakeholder management skills.

Skills & Attributes:

  • Minimum 4-5 years of experience in plant machinery management and in industries such as manufacturing, fabrication and M&E works.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems.
  • Experience in budget management and cost-control.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office, including the ability to operate Microsoft Office & Excel.
