MADE Careers is working with an award winning international architecture and design practice looking to appoint a Senior Computational Designer to join its London studio.
This is a design led role working across major international architecture and masterplanning projects, using computational design to explore complex geometry, develop architectural concepts and find innovative ways to resolve challenging design problems.
The practice is looking for someone with exceptional Rhino and Grasshopper skills, strong architectural design instincts and the ability to move confidently between creative exploration and technical delivery.
The Role
Working closely with senior designers, architects and BIM teams, you'll lead computational design work from early concept through to construction.
You'll develop parametric models and scripted workflows, help resolve complex geometries and ensure design ideas can be translated into coordinated, buildable architectural information.
Responsibilities
- Develop complex parametric models using Rhino and Grasshopper
- Build scripted workflows to explore, test and refine design solutions
- Work closely with design and BIM teams to translate computational models into deliverable documentation
- Explore emerging technologies, including AI assisted design tools
- Present design concepts and computational processes to clients and consultants
- Mentor junior designers and contribute to computational design knowledge across the studio
Requirements
- 4+ years' experience in computational design within architecture
- Degree and Master's qualification in Architecture
- Advanced Rhino and Grasshopper skills are essential
- Strong computational and parametric design ability, with Python or C# scripting highly advantageous
- An excellent portfolio demonstrating design exploration, computational processes and complex geometry
- Ability to work closely with architects, BIM teams and multidisciplinary consultants
- Confidence presenting design ideas and technical processes
- Experience across large scale international architecture or masterplanning projects advantageous
- Competitive salary + benefits package
- Hybrid working - 2 days working from home
- Medical insurance
- 30 days' annual leave including public holidays
- Exposure to major international architecture and masterplanning projects
- Professional development and career progression opportunities
Why This Role
A particularly good opportunity for a computational designer who is passionate about architecture and wants to remain close to the creative design process.
You'll work on ambitious international projects, developing complex geometries and computational approaches while having the opportunity to influence how emerging design technologies are used across the studio.
