We're working with a globally recognised architecture, urbanism and design practice looking to appoint an Associate Director or Director within its Birmingham studio.

This is a leadership role for someone who wants to help grow a studio, not simply lead projects.

Working alongside the Principle and Studio Lead, you'll play a key role in winning work, building client relationships and helping shape the future of the Birmingham office.

The Role

Working closely with the Studio Lead and wider UK leadership team, you'll play a central role in winning new work, developing client relationships and leading the delivery of major projects.

Alongside project leadership, you'll help shape the future of the Birmingham studio, mentoring teams, growing the client base and contributing to the wider strategic direction of the business.

This role offers genuine autonomy and would suit someone looking to make a lasting impact rather than simply stepping into another Associate Director position.

Responsibilities

  • Help drive the continued growth of the Birmingham studio
  • Build and develop long term relationships with clients across the Midlands and wider UK
  • Lead business development, bids and work winning activity
  • Lead the design and delivery of major UK projects
  • Mentor and develop project teams
  • Work collaboratively with sector leaders across the wider UK business
  • Represent the practice across the regional property and development market
  • Champion design quality and technical excellence across every project

Requirements

  • Associate Director, Director or an ambitious Associate ready to step into a broader leadership role
  • Strong experience within a respected UK architecture practice
  • A proven track record of winning work and developing long term client relationships
  • Experience leading UK regeneration, masterplanning or large scale mixed-use projects would be highly advantageous
  • Commercially minded with experience supporting business development, bids and strategic growth
  • Confident leading multidisciplinary teams and complex projects
  • Well connected within the Midlands market, or motivated to build a strong regional network
  • Passion for mentoring people and helping grow a successful studio
  • Ambitious, entrepreneurial and excited by the opportunity to build something

Benefits

  • Join a globally recognised architecture, urbanism and design practice
  • Play a key role in the growth of an ambitious regional studio
  • Genuine influence over the future direction of the business
  • Employee owned culture
  • Clear long term progression opportunities
  • Competitive salary and comprehensive benefits package
  • Hybrid working
  • Why This Role

This an opportunity to help shape the future of one of the practice's most important regional studios, backed by the resources, reputation and opportunities of a global business.

If you're looking for a role where you can build client relationships, grow a team and have a genuine influence on the direction of a studio, this is a rare opportunity to do exactly that.
