Maddie's is a family-run speciality coffee and ceremonial matcha café. Our first café is at Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth, and our second opens at Westquay, Southampton, in December 2026, with more sites planned across the UK. We are looking for an experienced Café Manager to train with us at Gunwharf, help build the Westquay team, then open and run the café.
Train at our Gunwharf café before Westquay opens
Recruit and train the Westquay team of about 10 people
Open and run the Westquay café day to day
Manage rotas, stock ordering and cash handling
Keep high standards of drinks, service and food safety
Experience managing a busy café or coffee shop
Hands-on barista skills, ideally in speciality coffee
Experience recruiting, training and developing a team
Experience of opening a new site is an advantage
A notice period of four weeks or less (sooner is a real plus)
Able to commute to Southampton and train in Portsmouth
£30,000 to £32,000 depending on experience, with a salary review after two months
Full time, 40 hours over a seven-day rota including weekends and bank holidays
