About This Role

As a Senior Medical Writer, you will deliver scientifically robust, strategically aligned, high‑quality content across a range of medical communications outputs. You will create clinical abstracts, posters and manuscripts that meet client objectives, timelines and budgets while contributing to broader account strategy and team development. This role combines scientific expertise, project ownership, effective communication and mentoring responsibilities.

Key Responsibilities

• Scientific Content Development & Leadership: Own and deliver accurate, well‑crafted content; create clinical publications and congress submissions in line with reporting guidelines; serve as key writer on accounts; maintain product knowledge; derive insights from literature; provide scientific review of other writers’ work.
• Understanding the Medical Communications Environment: Maintain knowledge of product, competitors and therapy area; develop knowledge in new therapy areas; apply clinical trial reporting guidelines; understand regulatory requirements such as ABPI and Sunshine Act.
• Project and Account Delivery: Manage editorial scheduling and resourcing; ensure quality and timely progression; anticipate risks; coordinate with colleagues; provide clear written briefs.
• Client and External Engagement: Lead scientific discussions with clients and experts; build strong client relationships; present confidently; recognize and escalating potential issues.
• Internal Collaboration and Team Development: Mentor and coach junior writers; model editorial practices; may undertake line management of an Associate Medical Writer.
• Financial & Business Awareness: Track budgeted hours; provide accurate estimates; participate in new business brainstorming; identify organic growth opportunities.

What You’ll Bring

• A degree in a life science or biomedical discipline (MSc or PhD advantageous).
• At least 3 years’ experience in medical writing with proven ability to develop accurate, insightful, and compelling content.
• Strong scientific literacy and the ability to interpret and communicate complex data.
• Excellent written English with strong attention to detail and consistency.
• Competence in Microsoft Office, reference management tools (e.g., EndNote) and client project management systems (e.g., Datavision, Veeva).
• Experience leading conversations with clients and/or external experts.
