This is a full-time permanent position with earnings up to £38,000 per annum, including TRONC (Tips & Service Charge). The role is based at Mad Swans in the Mendips (Bristol), and accommodation is available if required, in a shared property with other employees.
Mad Swans is looking for a Junior Sous Chef to join our budding team. You will be the first person to step into this role and shape it at our first site: Mad Swans in the Mendips, located in Farrington Gurney near Bristol & Bath.

As a Junior Sous Chef, you will play a key role in the kitchen leadership team and deliver exceptional food to our guests. The key duties and responsibilities include:
- Assist in food preparation and collaborate with the Head Chef and Sous Chef.
- Work closely with both the kitchen and front-of-house teams to ensure the best service.
- Offer suggestions, creative ideas, and ways to improve kitchen performance, menu options, and service.
- Oversee and supervise the kitchen team.
- Maintain impeccable hygiene and food safety standards.
- Help complete weekly stock takes and manage orders and deliveries.
- Report any Health & Safety issues to the Head Chef.
This role will work any five days out of seven, with working hours of 48 hours a week, varying throughout the week from 6.00 am to 11.00 pm.
Who we're looking for:
- Experienced in a Junior Sous Chef role.
- Genuine passion for food, creativity, and high standards.
- Excellent communicator with strong organisational skills.
- Proactive, positive, and resilient by nature.
- Food Safety Level 3 qualification is desirable but not essential.
