Mad Swans is now searching for a Head Padel Tennis Coach to lead the growth and development of both Padel Tennis and Pickleball at Mad Swans in the Mendips. The successful candidate for this role could be an independent Padel Tennis Coach working as a self-employed contractor, a direct employee or a hybrid type role depending on their current existing commitments and availability to work.
As the Head Padel Tennis Coach, you will be responsible for the growth, development and commercial performance of both Padel Tennis and Pickleball at Mad Swans in the Mendips. As part of this role, you will also lead the coaching programme and the day-to-day site operations for Racquet Sports. Depending on your current set up and commitments, there is an opportunity for you to continue running your own private coaching sessions alongside your role as Head Padel Tennis Coach here at Mad Swans.
Key Responsibilities
- Coaching & Player Development
- Deliver high-quality individual and group coaching sessions across all levels
- Design and implement a structured coaching programme, including beginner, intermediate, and advanced pathways
- Develop and grow junior and holiday programmes, including outreach with local schools
- Organise and deliver social play sessions and player-led activities
- Monitor player progression and ensure appropriate grouping and standardisation
- Ensure all coaching sessions are well-attended and operating at optimal capacity
- Programme & Competition Delivery
- Plan and deliver a calendar of social events and activations throughout the year
- Organise leagues, tournaments, and inter-club competitions
- Create regular playing opportunities to maximise court usage and player engagement
- Operations
- Oversee smooth day-to-day operations
- Act as the main point of contact for all padel tennis and pickleball related enquiries and guest issues
- Maintain high standards across courts, equipment, and facilities in coordination with operations
- Ensure all equipment is maintained, safe, and fully stocked
- Deliver an exceptional guest experience, including welcoming and engaging players on-site
- Communication & Community Engagement
- Manage player communications via WhatsApp and email to drive engagement and participation
- Work closely with the Sales & Marketing Team to build and maintain a strong, connected player community through regular marketing communications
- Proactively promote sessions, events, and coaching programmes to maximise occupancy and court utilisation
- Business Development & Growth
- Drive player acquisition, retention, and overall programme growth
- Identify opportunities to increase revenue through coaching, events, and programmes
- Support marketing initiatives, including social media and content creation
- Provide regular feedback and insights to inform wider business strategy
- Team & Coach Development
- Ensure LTA coaching accreditation is met and renewed each year
- Train and develop other onsite team members
- Reporting & Accountability
- Report regularly on participation, programme performance, and player engagement
- Attend team meetings and contribute to operational and strategic discussions
- Ensure alignment with overall business objectives and standards
This role could either be full time or part time (minimum of 20 hours a week) and there is also an opportunity for the successful candidate to run their own private coaching sessions. The total expected earnings for this role is £35,000-£40,000/annum, depending on the terms of engagement and the number of coaching hours. Please note, the level of earnings could be higher and is not capped, depending on the level and volume of coaching.
Who we are looking for
- Qualified and holds LTA Padel Instructor Certificate (Level 2)
- An experienced Padel Tennis Coach who lives and breathes padel tennis and racquet sports
- Ideally, also trained to coach and play Pickleball
- Able to build and create a new community of players for both Padel Tennis and Pickleball
- Excited about growing both Padel Tennis and Pickleball at Mad Swans
- Experienced in driving commercial and financial growth
- Able to create and deliver a clear strategy in relation to increasing both volume and revenue for both Padel Tennis and Pickleball
- Excited and passionate about playing sports
- Experienced or has previous experience in customer facing role
- Passionate about delivering excellent guest experience
- An excellent communicator
- Someone who has an eye for detail
- Organised and able to multi-task
- Confident, outgoing and well-presented
- Happy to be hands-on and assist with the day-to-day duties as part of a small team
