Responsible for planning, coordinating and delivering all secondary steel structure construction activities safely, on schedule, within budget and in accordance with quality requirements. Ensures effective integration of secondary steel works with other disciplines and successful completion through to handover.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop and implement execution plans, schedules and methodologies for secondary steel structure works.
- Plan manpower, equipment, materials and subcontractor resources to meet project milestones.
- Coordinate with engineering, procurement and construction teams to ensure constructability and timely availability of drawings and materials.
- Monitor construction progress and implement corrective actions to address delays or risks.
- Manage all site secondary steel activities including fabrication, delivery, erection, alignment, bolting and final completion.
- Ensure construction procedures, method statements and permit-to-work systems are correctly implemented.
- Lead and supervise construction teams and subcontractors delivering secondary steel works.
- Interface with civil, structural, mechanical, electrical and piping disciplines to ensure integrated project execution.
- Enforce compliance with project HSE policies, risk assessments and safety plans.
- Promote a strong safety culture through toolbox talks, meetings and audits.
- Ensure secondary steel works meet applicable codes, standards and QA/QC requirements.
- Oversee inspections, surveys, dimensional checks and completion documentation for handover.
- Control budgets, track productivity and manage variations within the secondary steel scope.
- Act as the main point of contact for clients, consultants and subcontractors on secondary steel matters.
- Provide regular progress, cost, quality and safety reporting.
- Identify risks, manage change and support project closeout activities.
Qualifications & Experience
- Degree in Mechanical, Structural or Civil Engineering or related discipline.
- Significant experience in steel structure construction delivery, including project or construction management roles.
- Strong knowledge of fabrication, erection and inspection of steel structures.
- Leadership and decision-making capability.
- Strong planning and organisational skills.
- Effective communication and stakeholder management.
- Proven ability to deliver projects safely, on time and to quality standards.
