Project Quality Advisor support on our sites.
Your on-site Quality Partner: Empowering Project Teams through proactive support and oversight of Quality Activities.
Introduction
Our Quality Management team, established just over a year ago, plays a crucial role in ensuring that the entire programme aligns with ISO 9001 standards. This encompasses a wide range of projects, from those in construction to those in the early stages of optioneering. The quality landscape for SI is still developing, and we anticipate growth in the team over the next three years. A key aspect of this transition involves fostering a cultural shift within the business to recognise the importance of quality and its necessity in managing a programme of this scale.
In response to the increasing demand for project and site-based support, we have identified opportunities for Quality resources to enhance our site teams and projects. This role will report to both the Project Team and the Quality Management Team, ensuring a collaborative approach to maintaining high-quality standards across all initiatives.
Availability
The position is available for immediate start, requiring a minimum commitment of four days of work per week, with at least three of those days spent on-site. The sites are primarily located in the Southeast region.
Timescale
The initial contract duration is six months, with the potential for extension. This role is intended to bridge the gap until a full-time internal resource can be recruited.
Scope of Role
As a Project Quality Advisor at National Grid, you will play a crucial role in the project team to ensure the highest standard of quality within projects in construction. You will be responsible for implementing Onshore's Quality Management Systems that ensure compliance with industry standards, regulatory requirements and National Grid's policies and procedures. This role requires a Quality advisor who can ensure quality is at the forefront of our projects and is able to manage quick and efficient resolutions to issues on a fast-moving project.
Key Responsibilities
- On-Site Engagement: Maintain a regular on-site presence (weekly) to foster relationships with site teams, assisting with day-to-day quality activities and effectively addressing intervention points.
- Meeting Participation: Attend SR163 meetings and project boards to provide updates and insights on quality matters, ensuring that all stakeholders are informed of current quality status and challenges.
- Quality Documentation Review: Assist in the review of quality documentation, including Inspection and Test Plans (ITPs) and project plans. Ensure familiarity with ITPs and on-site assurance practices to oversee quality planning, assurance, and control processes during construction, guaranteeing compliance with regulatory and contractual requirements.
- Design Assurance Monitoring: Monitor and support the design assurance process as needed to ensure that all designs comply with established quality standards.
- Quality Issue Management: Track, record, and facilitate the close-out of quality issues to maintain project integrity, ensuring that all concerns are addressed promptly and effectively.
- Escalation of Quality Issues: Escalate quality issues as necessary to ensure timely resolution and promote continuous improvement within the project.
- First Line of Assurance: Act as the first line of assurance for on-site quality, ensuring that all quality standards are upheld throughout the construction process.
