Hinkley Point C (HPC) is a significant nuclear power station project located in Somerset, England. It is the first new nuclear power station to be built in the UK in over 20 years and represents a major step towards achieving the country's energy security and carbon reduction goals. This business has a large mechanical scope of work and currently requires a Temporary Works Coordinator to be based on site at HPC for a long-term contract.
Main responsibilities include:
- The Temporary Works Coordinator is the Company designated and authorised role responsible for ensuring that Temporary Works procedures for the control of temporary works are implemented on site.
- Coordinate and supervise all types of temporary works in line with the business's Temporary Works procedures, ensuring safe erection, use, maintenance, and dismantling of temporary work.
- Delegate and organise tasks to align with the temporary works schedule.
- Engage with the client and contractors to ensure the temporary works are designed, checked, and implemented on site in accordance with relevant drawings and specifications.
- Where necessary, stop any temporary works that are not safe or aligned to Temporary Works procedures, plans, site protocol, and regulatory requirements such as HSEQ.
- Manage and monitor all temporary works to ensure delivery in line with the business's UK HSEQ policy.
- Prepare, maintain, and regularly review the Temporary Works register to ensure all temporary works and the assigned level of risk are included.
- Ensure each temporary works item is allocated an appropriate 'construction risk' category.
- Review Risk Assessments and Method Statements (RAMS) to ensure particular requirements are incorporated.
- Ensure any proposed changes in material or construction are referred to the Temporary Works Designer and client and ensure any agreed changes/corrections are carried out on site.
- Sign and issue the permit-to-work for temporary works.
- Ensure all inspections and hold points are undertaken and recorded on the permit-to-work.
This is a long-term role based at HPC.
