Material Controller required for large Mechanical scope of work based at Hinkley Point C in Taunton.
Responsibilities:
- Responsibility for the receipt, storage and release of materials delivered to site at laydown area / warehouse, including maintenance of the MTA Materials Tracking Application.
- Direct a team of storekeepers, forklift drivers, etc.
- Administer smooth and safe handling of materials at laydown area / warehouse.
- Complete any safety documentation required for any tasks undertaken at any time and ensure those involved understand them clearly.
- Ensure materials are stored in an organized manner for easy retrieval at laydown / warehouse.
- Prepare for receipt of material at site e.g. arrange for handling equipment, submittal of paperwork for customs clearance, etc.
- Escort any deliveries relevant to the correct area(s) and ensure it is offloaded by the correct parties in a safe and correct manner.
- Open box inspection of all material received on site and identify damaged or missing items.
- Reconcile goods received with shipping documents.
- Implement stores control procedures.
- Establish and implement stock control procedures to identify and rectify shortages.
- Manage day-to-day issuance of material to subcontractors and ensure evidences are maintained for traceability purposes.
- Ensure that stored equipment is protected and preserved in accordance with relevant procedures.
- Ensure procurement of consumable items in accordance with purchasing procedures and budget.
Key Performance Indicators:
- Prompt report and resolution of any disruptions or abnormalities related to materials.
- Full traceability of material received and issued.
- Up-to-date data in the MTA.
- Manage material movement between the laydown / warehouse and site.
Job Specifics:
- Knowledge on different types of materials and the proper handling and management to support construction / commissioning.
- Upload data in the MTA.
Experience required:
- Worked as a materials controller on large complex projects.
- General knowledge on different types of materials used on power plant construction.
- Experience in working on construction sites - ideally on Mechanical Scopes.
- Ability to work full time on site - Monday to Friday.
