The Role
We are looking for an experienced Electrical Production Technician to join our shop‑floor team. You will assemble, test, and troubleshoot electrical equipment, ensuring it meets technical, quality, and schedule requirements. Working with minimal supervision, you’ll coordinate across departments and contribute to process improvements.
About You
You will have strong all‑round knowledge and experience of electrical control, software, and hydraulic systems, with a particular focus on software control. You are confident using computer programs, including MS Office, Excel, and Word, and bring excellent organizational, resource management, and time management skills. Flexible and proactive, you use your initiative to solve problems, show creativity, and are enthusiastic about learning new techniques. Highly motivated, you take pride in your work, paying close attention to detail and consistently delivering a high standard of workmanship.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble electrical equipment to drawings and specifications.
- Follow and maintain procedures, work instructions, and documentation.
- Liaise with engineering and production teams to provide technical guidance.
- Communicate with team members and report requirements to the supervisor.
- Complete route cards, Test Instruction Sheets (T.I.S.’s), and other paperwork accurately and on schedule.
- Support troubleshooting, fault finding, and timely problem resolution.
- Assist with testing activities to ensure successful component verification.
- Contribute to efficiency, quality, and cost improvement initiatives.
Essential
- Experience with electrical control, software, and hydraulic systems.
- Skilled in DOL, star‑delta, soft starts, and drives.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical/mechanical drawings.
- Proficient in MS Office; organized, flexible, and detail‑oriented.
- Strong communication and problem‑solving skills.
- Flexible and ability to use initiative.
- Be creative and show enthusiasm for learning new techniques.
- Capable of following processes and plans on test instruction sheets (T.I.S's).
Desirable
- Marine systems experience (surface ship/submarine) and knowledge of MacTaggart Scott equipment.
- PLC experience (Rockwell, Beckhoff, Mitsubishi) and LabVIEW/Reactec software.
- Knowledge of 18th edition wiring regulations, inspection/testing, IOSH or equivalent.
