Electrical Test Technicians are based on the shop floor and report directly to the Test Supervisor.
Their primary duty is to perform test activities on products in accordance with test instructions provided by the wider engineering team. They provide technical leadership to other fitters and apprentices.
Overall performance in this role will be measured by the delivery of successful test operations to the business in an efficient, timely, collaborative, and right-first-time manner. Goals and objectives for the role include, but are not limited to:
- Safe execution of allocated tasks
- Pro-active approach to safety management systems and applicable company procedures, policy, and equipment
- Efficient execution of allocated tasks
- Effective leadership to Test Fitters and Test Apprentices
- Effective communication and engagement with all business stakeholders
- Adherence to procedures and quality standards – document, maintain, communicate, and check understanding

- Assist the Test Engineering team in the development of all aspects of Test Design and Specification, and all test process, procedure, and documentation
- Assist the Acceptance and Test Manager in ensuring all aspects of Acceptance and Test within the business are executed to the highest standards
Requirements
By being part of the Test Department team, the Electrical Test Technician will:
- Ensure that roles and responsibilities are clearly understood prior to commencing testing procedures
- Work in electrical engineering on complex interdisciplinary projects
- Coordinate and participate in test activities to enable successful testing of components
- Be responsible for ensuring that all Test procedures are documented, maintained, communicated, understood, and adhered to
- Act as liaison between engineering and the shop floor to ensure Test requirements are met and to provide technical direction
- Using information supplied by the design team, develop test equipment, and oversee its installation and operation
- Communicate regularly with team members and report to the supervisor with any requirements
- Ensure the accurate completion of all paperwork, including route cards and Test Instruction Sheets (T.I. S\’s), ensuring they are complete, signed off, and scheduled
- Work closely with Test Department Management, Chief Test Engineer, and Planning teams to improve efficiency and quality, reduce costs, and shorten lead times. Assist with developing/conducting trials for new processes and ensure test engineers conform to procedures
