Shift Pattern: Dayshift or Nightshift (Monday–Thursday)

The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Maintenance Electrician to join our Facilities and Maintenance team at our Loanhead site. This role is critical to ensuring our production plant, equipment, buildings, and facilities remain safe, reliable, and fully operational. You’ll play a key part in minimising downtime, supporting production, and maintaining high standards across the site. This role will work with minimal supervision after initial training and reporting to the Maintenance Technician. This is an excellent opportunity for a time-served electrician who enjoys a varied, hands-on role within a highly technical engineering environment and who is committed to safety, quality, and continuous improvement.

What You’ll Do

Key Responsibilities

  • Maintain production plant and equipment (including CNC machinery and overhead cranes) to the highest possible standard.
  • Respond quickly and effectively to breakdowns, returning equipment to service safely and cost-effectively to minimise downtime.
  • Carry out maintenance and repair of company buildings, services, and facilities including offices, kitchens, and welfare areas.
  • Undertake electrical installations, upgrades, and remedial works (e.g. lighting repairs).
  • Complete emergency lighting testing, PAT testing, and thermal imaging inspections.
  • Ensure efficient and cost-effective use of energy and site facilities.
  • Adhere to and promote all departmental policies, procedures, and health & safety standards.
  • Work collaboratively with the Maintenance Manager, Maintenance Technician, and wider teams to deliver a high-quality maintenance service.
  • Support continuous improvement by reviewing maintenance processes and suggesting efficiency improvements.
  • Maintain a professional approach when interacting with colleagues and external clients, recognising the importance of security when working within military and naval environments.

What We’re Looking For

Essential

  • Time-served electrician with a recognised apprenticeship.
  • Qualification in an electrical discipline to a minimum of SVQ Level 3 or equivalent.
  • Current electrical qualification such as City & Guilds 2382 / BS7671 (18th Edition).
  • Strong understanding of electrical drawings and all-round electrical maintenance.
  • Ability to work under pressure, use initiative, and manage tasks with minimal supervision.
  • A proactive, flexible, and team-oriented approach with strong communication skills.

The successful candidate must hold or be able to meet the appropriate Security Clearance as required.

Desirable

  • PAT testing experience.
  • Fault-finding experience on CNC machinery.
  • Overhead crane maintenance experience.
  • City & Guilds 2391.
  • MEWP certification.
  • IPAF certification (1b, 3a, 3b).
  • Confined space training.
  • Working at height certification.
  • Valid UK driving licence.

Working Hours

Dayshift: Monday to Thursday, 07:00 – 16:45
Nightshift: Monday to Thursday, 21:15 – 07:00
