We are looking for an Acceptance & Test Engineer to join MacTaggart Scott and play a key role in delivering high-quality test activities across our projects. Reporting directly to the Acceptance and Test Manager, you’ll be responsible for producing Acceptance and Test Engineering deliverables in line with established company processes and procedures. Working under moderate supervision, this role suits a professional, self-motivated engineer who enjoys taking ownership of their work while benefiting from strong technical leadership and management support. You’ll work closely with multidisciplinary engineering teams, contributing to Acceptance and Test activities that ensure our systems and equipment are tested safely, effectively, and in full compliance with quality and regulatory standards.

What Is the Job About? This role plays a key part in the successful delivery of Acceptance and Test Engineering activities across a range of exciting projects. As an Acceptance & Test Engineer, you’ll be responsible for producing high-quality test outputs, supporting formal design and test reviews, and working in line with company procedures and health & safety best practice. Success in this role is driven by the timely and accurate delivery of Acceptance and Test deliverables, strong collaboration with stakeholders across the business, and a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of safety, quality, and engineering excellence.

Key Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

  • Produce Acceptance and Test Engineering outputs and deliverables in line with company procedures (including CP31.0).
  • Support project and stakeholder teams in the delivery of Acceptance and Test Engineering activities.
  • Provide technical input to test and acceptance reviews.
  • Support the Acceptance and Test team in delivering functional capabilities aligned with company objectives.
  • Adhere to Acceptance and Test procedures and champion their adoption with wider stakeholders.
  • Ensure formal engineering reviews and appropriate controls are applied in accordance with customer requirements.
  • Support a safe working environment and promote a right-first-time, collaborative team culture.
  • Assist the Acceptance and Test function in identifying business-wide improvement opportunities.

This role does not include line management responsibility.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience

Essential:

  • Experience working within an engineering or technical organisation.
  • Experience working in multidisciplinary engineering teams.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office tools.
  • Demonstrable commitment to continued professional development.
  • HNC/HND in Engineering or time-served engineer background.

Desirable:

  • Experience working on complex naval or marine systems.
  • Registration with an appropriate professional body.
  • Aware of Systems Engineering approaches and requirements capture.
  • BEng or higher Engineering qualification in a relevant discipline.

The successful candidate must hold or be able to meet the appropriate Security Clearance as required.
