- The
Technical Trainer position itself, where you'll design, develop and deliver engaging technical and product training, predominantly for internal colleagues with occasional external customer training.
This isn't a traditional Learning & Development role.
You'll combine hands-on plumbing and installation knowledge with presentation, communication and training skills, becoming a key source of technical product expertise within the business.
Your responsibilities will include
- Designing and delivering engaging technical and product training.
- Delivering classroom, virtual and practical hands-on training sessions.
- Demonstrating product installation and real-world applications.
- Developing detailed knowledge of the company's product portfolio and competitor products.
- Translating technical features into clear product benefits and USPs.
- Supporting Sales teams with the knowledge and confidence to communicate technical advantages.
- Creating Power Point presentations, trainer guides, workbooks, technical manuals, installation guides, videos and e-learning content.
- Developing UK-specific installation and fitting guidance.
- Supporting new product launches with training materials and delivery.
- Working with Sales, Marketing, Technical, Product Management and HR to identify learning needs.
- Evaluating training effectiveness and continuously improving content and delivery.
- Supporting wider L&D programmes including sales, customer service, presentation skills and onboarding.

- To succeed as
Technical Trainer / Learning & Development Specialist , you'll combine credible practical technical knowledge with the personality and communication skills to engage an audience.
You will have
- Practical hands-on plumbing, fitting or installation experience.
- Good knowledge of bathroom, plumbing or heating products and UK construction methods.
- Practical plumbing background and/or recognised plumbing qualification.
- Ability to understand products, installation methods and technical information.
- Excellent communication, presentation and interpersonal skills.
- Confidence explaining technical concepts simply to different audiences.
- Strong Power Point, Microsoft Office, organisation and planning skills.
- Commercial awareness and a customer-focused approach.
- Previous experience as a
Technical Trainer, Product Trainer, Training Specialist or Learning & Development Specialist would be advantageous, as would experience creating learning materials, e-learning or delivering classroom and virtual training.
However, you don't necessarily need to be a career trainer.
If you're an experienced plumbing/bathroom professional with technical credibility, charisma and a natural ability to explain, demonstrate and engage, this could be your opportunity to move from doing into developing others.
