About The Role
We are currently looking for a Senior Quantity Surveyor (QS) to join a dynamic team delivering and overseeing commercial activities as part of a multi-disciplinary projects team. The role will report to the Head of Cost Management and work closely with senior members of the Consultancy team, as well as stakeholders across the wider Macro business. This is a hybrid role, with a minimum requirement to be on‑site (Macro office, client office or project site) three times per week, including weekly travel to Reigate, Surrey.
Key Responsibilities
- Cost Management & Delivery: Lead cost planning, estimating, and budgeting across all project stages (RIBA 0–7 or equivalent). Prepare and manage cost plans, procurement strategies, tender documentation, and contract administration. Deliver accurate financial reporting, including cost forecasts, cash flow, and risk assessments. Provide robust commercial advice to clients, ensuring cost certainty and value for money. Manage change control processes and ensure transparent reporting of variations.
- Client & Stakeholder Engagement: Act as a trusted advisor, building strong, long‑term client relationships. Lead client meetings and present cost strategies in a clear, confident, and solutions‑focused manner. Collaborate effectively with project teams, including designers, contractors, and consultants. Support business development through client engagement and contributions to bids and proposals.
- Leadership & Collaboration: Mentor and support junior team members, fostering a culture of learning and continuous improvement. Promote collaboration across multidisciplinary teams in line with Macro Group’s people‑first culture. Contribute to a positive, inclusive, and high‑performing team environment.
- Commercial & Contractual Management: Administer contracts (e.g., JCT and NEC), ensuring compliance and effective risk mitigation. Lead negotiations with contractors and suppliers to achieve optimal commercial outcomes. Identify and manage project risks, ensuring proactive mitigation strategies are implemented.
- Sustainability & Value Focus: Embed sustainable cost practices, supporting clients in achieving environmental and social value objectives. Advise on whole‑life costing and value engineering solutions aligned with sustainable design principles. Promote efficient resource use and innovation in cost management approaches.
- Quality, Compliance & Governance: Ensure all work adheres to Macro Group’s quality standards, processes, and governance frameworks. Maintain professional standards in line with RICS or equivalent professional bodies. Champion ethical practice, transparency, and accountability across all project activities.

Key Skills & Experience
- Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor / Cost Consultant within a consultancy environment.
- Strong knowledge of cost planning, procurement strategies, and contract administration.
- Experience managing projects across sectors (e.g., commercial workplace, public sector, education, retail).
- Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills.
- Ability to uphold the values and behaviours of the organisation.

- Ability to work as part of a team, supporting colleagues where required.
- Ability to manage multiple projects, work under pressure to challenging timescales, and handle a varied workload with competing priorities.

- Strong knowledge of standard contract forms (e.g., NEC, JCT, and FIDIC).
