About the Role
We are seeking a strategically focused Head of Energy to establish and lead our global energy practice. This pivotal leadership role will shape the direction of energy services across the business, drive commercial growth, build internal capability, and support clients through their energy transitions.
Reporting to the Head of Sustainability, the role will lead the development of energy management, procurement, compliance, optimisation, and decarbonisation services across multiple sectors and geographies. Acting as a trusted adviser to senior client executives, the successful candidate will evolve our energy service portfolio and establish the partnerships, systems, and expertise needed to build a market‑leading in‑house energy capability.
Working collaboratively with sustainability, facilities management (FM), project management, and operational teams, the Head of Energy will identify opportunities to improve energy performance, deliver renewable energy solutions, upgrade infrastructure, and support strategic energy investments.
Key Responsibilities
Energy Strategy & Service Development
- Define and execute the global energy services growth strategy, aligned with business objectives, client needs, and market opportunities.
- Develop innovative energy, carbon, and decarbonisation solutions that reduce client costs, risks, and environmental impact.
- Establish scalable frameworks, methodologies, and delivery models, including the long‑term development of an in‑house Energy Bureau service.
- Provide executive sponsorship, strategic direction, and technical oversight for key client engagements, maintaining hands‑on involvement where required.
Client Leadership & Growth
- Advise senior client stakeholders on energy strategies, investment roadmaps, and net‑zero programmes.
- Identify and develop opportunities to expand energy services across existing and prospective global clients.
- Lead strategic proposals, client presentations, and thought leadership to strengthen market positioning and support business growth.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, partners, suppliers, and industry bodies.
Energy Performance & Technical Delivery
- Oversee client energy performance programmes, ensuring measurable commercial, operational, and sustainability outcomes.
- Guide energy optimisation, procurement, compliance, and decarbonisation initiatives across complex portfolios.
- Initially lead key projects and consultancy assignments directly, transitioning to a scalable, team‑based delivery model as the practice grows.
- Establish robust data, measurement, and reporting frameworks to support informed decisions and demonstrate client value.
Energy Projects & Operational Integration
- Integrate energy, sustainability, FM, and project management capabilities to identify and deliver energy improvement opportunities.
- Develop capabilities in energy efficiency, building optimisation, renewable energy, and energy infrastructure.
- Identify, assess, and support investment opportunities in solar PV, electrification, controls optimisation, and other decarbonisation measures.
- Develop repeatable service offerings that strengthen collaboration across consultancy, operations, and project delivery teams.
Commercial Leadership
- Contribute to business planning, revenue growth, and profitability targets for the energy service line.
- Develop business cases, investment appraisals, and commercial propositions for clients and internal stakeholders.
- Evaluate new services, partnerships, technologies, and market trends to identify sustainable growth opportunities.
- Strengthen energy procurement and bureau capabilities, progressively reducing reliance on third‑party providers.
Technical Governance & Industry Leadership
- Provide technical leadership and governance across energy services and client engagements.
- Maintain oversight of energy and carbon compliance obligations, emerging regulations, and industry best practice.
- Represent the organisation through industry engagement, conferences, professional networks, and thought leadership.
- Maintain market‑leading technical standards, methodologies, and quality assurance processes.
Leadership & Capability Building
- Build, lead, and develop a high‑performing energy team capable of supporting global client requirements.
- Define the skills, systems, processes, and resources required to scale the energy practice.
- Coach and mentor colleagues across sustainability, FM, and project management to strengthen organisational capability.
- Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.
About You
You are a commercially minded energy leader with the vision, credibility, and drive to build and grow a market‑leading energy practice. You combine strategic thinking and commercial acumen with a pragmatic, hands‑on approach, enabling you to influence senior stakeholders while navigating technical complexity.
You will have a proven track record of developing energy solutions that deliver measurable commercial, operational, and sustainability outcomes, alongside the ambition to shape a growing service line, strengthen organisational capabilities, and create long‑term value for clients.

- Proven leadership skills, including building and developing teams, mentoring colleagues, and strengthening organisational capabilities.
- Experience building trusted relationships with C‑suite executives, property leaders, operational teams, and external partners.
- Strong commercial and analytical skills, including investment appraisal, business case development, risk management, and performance reporting.
- Broad knowledge of energy management, procurement, optimisation, decarbonisation, compliance, and energy infrastructure projects.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to translate complex technical concepts into clear, business‑focused recommendations.
- A collaborative approach, working effectively across sustainability, facilities management, project management, and operational functions.
- A degree (or equivalent qualification) in energy management, engineering, building services, environmental science, or a related discipline.
- Chartered status or equivalent professional recognition through a relevant institution, such as CIBSE, the Energy Institute, ISEP, or RICS, is desirable.
