Our Direct Lending strategy leverages Macquarie's extensive experience as a principal investor and private credit asset manager. This strategy aims to create a differentiated offering within this dynamic asset class, investing via European and US funds in middle market companies in defensive sectors with resilient markets and stable cash flows.

At Macquarie, our advantage is bringing together diverse people and empowering them to succeed. We are a global financial services group operating in 34 markets and with 55 years of unbroken profitability. As a member of our team, you will directly support the Portfolio Managers in investing and managing direct lending portfolios for Macquarie Asset Management clients. You will take a lead role in the assessment of investment opportunities for the Macquarie Asset Management funds. This will involve engaging with the investment team, preparing investment memos, performing rigorous reviews of financial models, credit structures, and documentation, undertaking due diligence, and completing rating assessments and ESG assessments. You will work with team members to monitor and manage our investments with oversight from the Portfolio Managers, including assessment of regular borrower reporting, valuation analysis, waivers and amendments.

Additionally, you will support portfolio considerations across investment vehicles, including review of portfolio construction, liquidity requirements, investment objectives, risk limits and return requirements, liaising with operational teams as required. You will manage and produce internal portfolio analysis, contribute commentary and data to internal and external reporting. Furthermore, you will support the Direct Lending fundraising strategy and implementation through working with the Portfolio Managers and Client Solutions Group. This will include assisting in preparing materials for fundraising and client management efforts. You will also maintain fluency in macro and micro trends influencing the direct lending origination and fundraising markets. Lastly, you will work with Enterprise teams to continually improve investment and business processes with a focus on digital solutions.

What you offer:

  • 8+ years of experience in an investment-oriented role in private credit or leveraged finance, preferably with a focus on structuring and/or analysing corporate debt risk fundamentals.
  • Ability to review and work with financial models and extensive experience in the due diligence of mid-market direct lending borrowers, including assessment of legal, technical, and financial reports.
  • Fluency in valuation analysis.
  • Knowledge of portfolio management principles and experience in preparing portfolio level analysis for a credit portfolio.
  • Proficiency in analytical discussions with a balanced, commercial approach to risk decisions.
  • Self-starter with strong sense of ownership and accountability.
