Based at our Glenbervie site and reporting to the Product Design Manager, you will design, develop, and improve our range of sauces and UHT-processed products. You will take responsibility for new products from the development kitchen to the production line, ensuring a smooth transition from trials and testing to full production.
Key Responsibilities
- Progressing, monitoring and reporting of assigned Process Design Projects: set up, supervise, and report factory trials.
- Review and optimise current operations to reduce costs, improve safety and improve quality.
- Assess impact of new equipment, raw materials, methods of manufacture, packaging, etc.
- Support commissioning of new equipment.
- Set up and communicate reprocessing materials and products as required.
- Review current operations with a view to optimize, improve efficiency and deliver continuous improvement.
- Enhance product quality through process modifications, line changes, process control amendments or new equipment introduction.
- Liaison with Planning, Purchasing, Stock Control, Production and QC for arranging factory trials.
- Carry out product design work as required.
- Share learning with Operations staff during scale up from pilot to factory.
About You
- Enjoy a hands-on approach to work and demonstrate a passion for the industry with an enthusiasm to learn.
- You will have a natural aptitude for problem solving and strong planning, organising and communication skills.
- Have a science degree, preferably in Food Processing/Food Science/Food Technology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, or other relevant science subjects.
- Proven experience in sauce formulation and UHT processing is essential.
- Experience in Product Development and R&D within the food industry.
- Knowledge of raw materials, food systems, lab equipment, and kitchen environment.
- Knowledge and understanding of materials, statistical techniques and testing procedures.
- Commercial awareness and excellent communication, as you will work with customers, suppliers, and other departments.
- Enthusiastic and able to develop and champion new ideas.
- Organised with good analytical data skills and problem-solving aptitude.
