Join our Team at Macphie. Macphie, a renowned family ingredient manufacturer based in the stunning locale of Glenbervie, Aberdeenshire, is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated Team Lead for our Operations department. We are known for our innovative and high-quality products, including sauces, bakery ingredients, and toppings for ice creams, designed to cater to a global clientele.
About the role
Reporting to the Shift Manager, you will play a pivotal role in overseeing daily operational activities and managing team performance to ensure optimal productivity. Your leadership will guide the operational workflow from raw material management to production execution, while adhering to the highest standards of quality and safety. Your responsibilities will include mentoring team members, optimizing processes for efficiency, and implementing continuous improvement measures. You will ensure that operational targets are met while fostering a positive workplace culture that emphasizes teamwork and excellence.
Working shift pattern is Monday to Friday on a weekly rotation of early (06:00 to 14:30) and lates (14:00-22:30).
Key Responsibilities:
- Leadership & Team Management
- Lead, inspire, and mentor team members to achieve operational excellence.
- Conduct regular training sessions to enhance team skills and knowledge of processes.
- Carry out cleaning schedules in the production and packaging area ensuring a very high standard is met, in addition to placing emphasis on the factory's "clean as you go" policy, being always audit ready.
- Foster a collaborative and motivating environment that encourages teamwork.
- Operational Excellence
- Oversee daily operations, ensuring compliance with established policies and procedures.
- Implement and enhance processes for maximized efficiency and minimal waste.
- Monitor operational KPIs and drive improvements to meet targets.
- Communicate effectively with other departments to facilitate smooth operations and resolve issues.
- Quality & Safety Standards
- Ensure strict adherence to health and safety regulations across the operations.
- Conduct regular quality checks and maintain a culture of continuous improvement.
- Promote and uphold the company's commitment to quality assurance throughout the operational chain.
- Additional Responsibilities
- Collaborate with the Shift Manager on strategic planning and process improvements.
- Handle any other reasonable duties as assigned by the Shift Manager.
Requirements
Experience & Qualifications:
- FMCG experience preferred.
- Problem analysis and problem-solving skills.
- Past experience working at busy production/delivery environment, is an added advantage.
- Strong communication and listening skills - both in written and verbal formats.
- Confident in use of computerised systems.
