Our client is a leading building envelope subcontractor delivering high-quality roofing, cladding, and full envelope solutions across major commercial and industrial projects. Due to sustained growth, they’re now looking to bring an experienced Cladding & Roofing Design Manager into their expanding team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a well-respected, long-established specialist, with real scope to progress into a Senior Designer Manager role as the business continues to grow.
The Role
Working as part of a busy design and technical team, you’ll take responsibility for producing accurate drawings, supporting project delivery, and ensuring all design work meets technical, safety, and client requirements. You’ll be heavily involved in both the design office and on-site coordination, acting as a key link between clients, architects, suppliers, and installation teams. You’ll work across a wide range of building envelope systems, including:
- Standing seam
- Composite panels
- Rain screen cladding
- Single-ply roofing
- Hot-melt roofing
- SFS (Steel Framing Systems)
Key Responsibilities
- Produce detailed working drawings and fabrication drawings for roofing and cladding systems.
- Interpret architectural, structural, and steelwork drawings, raising design queries where needed.
- Attend client design meetings (in person and via Teams).
- Liaise with architects, consultants, system manufacturers, and customers throughout the design process.
- Work closely with site teams to resolve technical queries and ensure smooth installation.
- Create material take-offs, schedules, and assist with procurement.
- Conduct site surveys and measurements as required.
- Support the wider design function and get involved with other areas of the business where appropriate.
About You
- Minimum 5 years’ experience in a design role within the roofing, cladding, or building envelope sector.
- Strong understanding of façade, roofing, and envelope systems and their installation processes.
- Competent with relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD or similar CAD packages).
- Confident liaising with clients, architects, and site teams.
- Able to interpret architectural and structural drawings accurately.
- A team player with a proactive, problem-solving approach.
- Ambitious and keen to take on more responsibility as the business grows.
