Macmillan Publishers is a leading international publishing house with a 180 year history, home to some of the world’s most cherished authors and creators. Macmillan Learning is our Higher Education division, publishing market-leading academic textbooks and digital learning resources across the Sciences, Social Sciences and Humanities. Our mission is to inspire what’s possible for every learner, and we are dedicated to combining world-class content with evolving learning technology to drive student success.
Our International Sales and Marketing team is 5 years into an ambitious journey to grow our global market share. We are hiring two Higher Education Partnership Consultants to join us. The HE Partnership Consultant is a consultative, digital-first sales role. Based in our London office and working as part of a small and focused sales team, you'll partner directly with academic faculty to secure institutional subscriptions to our digital learning products, helping to shape teaching and learning at some of the sector's leading international institutions.
You'll own the full sales cycle across a portfolio of strategic accounts, from prospecting through to onboarding, contributing directly to revenue growth by winning new business through consultative selling and growing existing accounts through proactive renewal management. You’ll collaborate closely with your sales team, working together towards a shared team target and shared goals.
About you: This is a role for someone who thrives on variety and collaboration. Outreach and relationship-building happen primarily through remote digital channels, with training provided on a range of digital engagement tools and techniques. Travel for strategically selected events and meetings to help close high value deals is still a key part of the role, and closing complex, multi-stakeholder deals require a team selling approach so building strong internal relationships across our different business functions is essential. And because priorities shift with the market throughout the year, you'll need to be comfortable remaining agile and adaptable in response to changing market opportunities.
We’re looking for energetic, driven and results-focused individuals who are keen to have immediate impact as part of a small and dynamic team. You should be a self-starter who enjoys variety, is comfortable working autonomously, and is genuinely interested in working across a range of different international markets. Having the right attitude and ambition is more important to us than years of experience, and we welcome applications from recent graduates and those early in their careers as well as those with a track record in sales or business development. Full training and support will be provided along with ongoing professional development opportunities.
The Roles:
- Higher Education Partnership Consultant: UK, Africa & ANZ - This role offers a broad geographic scope and exposure to a varied mix of universities and buying cultures from the UK's mature, competitive HE market through to the fast-growing university sectors of Africa.
- Higher Education Partnership Consultant: Europe & Middle East - This role combines Northern Europe's well-established HE market with fast-growing opportunities across Southern and Eastern Europe, and the Middle East, offering the chance to build relationships and knowledge across genuinely different markets and cultures.
These are both permanent, full-time and hybrid roles, with 3 days/wk required in the Kings Cross office. Occasional travel for conferences, team meetings and customer meetings will be required, as will some flexibility in working hours to accommodate different time zones.
Benefits: Private Medical Insurance/Medical cash plan, enhanced employer pension contributions, employee discounts portal, 25 days holiday plus bank holidays, employee assistance programme and much more. The hours of the position are 35 hours per week. Salary is between £28,000-£38,000 depending on experience + annual bonus plan. Applicants must have an existing right to live and work in the United Kingdom.
Closing date: 11 October 2026. Early applications may be prioritised (and the advert may close early with sufficient applications). No agencies.
