About the Role
Springer Nature's Specialized Sales team is looking for a Nature Solution Specialist, to help drive sales revenue for the Nature Journal Portfolio in the Academic and Government Market. This is not a direct sales representative role.
The Solution Specialist will support the Academic and Government Sales team in North America in demonstrating creative approaches to objections and a determination to win new business. This includes a strong analytical approach and a willingness to dive into the data to surface key information.
Role Responsibilities:
- Acquire and apply a thorough understanding of the Nature Portfolio journals.
- Create target lists of new sales prospects.
- Work with sales reps to develop a strategic approach for specific customers.
- Support selling Nature journals by preparing and presenting comprehensive customer assessments.
- Utilize existing business and pricing models to provide suitable options to local sales and customers.
- Coordinate with the sales reps to produce sales/business reports.
- Understand the resources developed to assist the sales process.
- Contribute to the knowledge sharing of the Solution Specialists team.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science or similar degree; Master is a plus.
- Established prior experience as a product expert or sales rep.
- A strong understanding of the Scientific, Technical, and Medical (STM) publishing market.
- Prior experience working in a research related department.
- Ability to thrive in a complex work environment.
- Self-motivated and willing to continuously improve client relationship management.
- Analytical skills and excellent presentation skills.
- Sales skills like objection handling and mapping customer requirements.
- Proven ability to understand and effectively communicate with multiple functional groups.
- Personable and detail-oriented with strong communication skills.
- Experience utilizing CRM systems to track account activity.
- Ability to travel as needed (10-50% of work time).
