The role primarily focuses on the Primary portfolio, involving commissioning, liaising with overseas markets, and overseeing content delivery within schedule and budget. The Senior Development Editor line manages Development Editors, providing mentoring, training, and support. Collaboration with various teams ensures market needs are met and publishing objectives are achieved.
Role Responsibilities:
- Understand the publishing vision and business needs.
- Prepare author briefs with the Commissioning Editor based on market research.
- Identify potential authors and content creators.
- Commission and develop material with authors, providing feedback to meet the brief.
- Monitor content development issues to ensure timely delivery within budget.
- Understand budgeting and financial implications.
- Negotiate and manage content development contracts.
- Recruit and induct new staff, managing performance and development.
- Participate in training to develop skills.
Experience, Qualifications, Skills:
Essential:
- Degree or equivalent education
- Formal ELT/TEFL qualification
- ELT/EFL teaching experience (primary, secondary, or adult)
