Purpose of Role
The Marketing Manager; Caribbean and International Curriculum, reporting into the Regional Director; Caribbean and MENA, will be responsible for creating and implementing the strategic and tactical marketing plan for the Caribbean and International Curriculum businesses, to drive opportunities for revenue growth, maximise annual sales and maintain our Caribbean position in market.

Role Responsibilities
- Create and own the implementation of a strategic marketing plan for the Caribbean and International Curriculum businesses.
- Work closely with the Caribbean team, local Macmillan businesses and external partners, to achieve effective and appropriate marketing with a strong focus on digital and social delivery.
- Support with customer research, to enable a full understanding of the customer segments and requirements.
- Visit the markets and carry out consumer research to monitor how our brand is received and feedback into the product development stage, influencing decision‑making.
- Ensure a joined up customer experience and strong commercial/delivery model for the product portfolio.
- Define and deliver a training strategy, aligned to markets needs that provides accessible and appropriate training, both in market and digitally.
- Own and implement pilots, that provide efficacy and support implementation of new initiatives, with a particular focus on digital.
Key Tasks
- Define and deliver a clear and strategic marketing plan for each business.
- Manage the marketing budget for Macmillan Caribbean and International Curriculum businesses; scoping activity to the annual budget and monitoring spend against said budget.
- Be custodian of the brand ensuring consistency of use and integrity across all promotional activities ensuring that all the values of the brand including the SDGs are upheld at all times.
- Work with the Sales and Marketing Director, and in close liaison with the Sales Manager and Publishing Manager to ensure that all marketing promotional activities are timely, appropriate and on message.
- Own, monitor and develop / maintain the websites for both businesses.
- Develop and maintain a network of consultants and authors to provide quality training be that via digital or face‑to‑face delivery.
- Manage the Marketing Executive, any freelance staff and freelance designers to produce high quality, innovative and creative promotional items with a particular focus on online delivery and social media.
- Take responsibility for the professional development of the Marketing Executive providing clear direction and creating a positive working environment for the Marketing Executive and all freelance staff.
- Liaise with the wider Macmillan Education Group and Springer Nature to assess and respond to opportunities to utilise group processes to improve workflows.
- Raise the profile of Macmillan Caribbean and International Curriculum internally through appropriate and timely communication.
- Travel as required to present to schools and ministries and agents forging strong relationships and partnerships that help embed our products and services and build brand awareness.
- Produce a termly webinar/training programme that supports the aims and objectives of the marketing and sales plans.
- Produce monthly statistics from webinars, events, social media and use these statistics to make informed decisions about future activities and events.
- Oversee all promotional activities including managing the budget for the series of products called Discover China.
- Build up an in depth knowledge of the market places in which we operate.
- Manage the annual sales conference and in country trainings/events.
- Work closely with our agents and booksellers to help them produce their marketing plans and to support key activities, setting KPIs where appropriate.
- Look for and pursue opportunities for market growth.
- Work closely with our internal teams across the world to create, share and to localise promotional marketing materials that help drive engagement and sales.
Qualifications
Relevant marketing or professional qualification.
Skills / Knowledge
- Strong influencing and communication skills with the credibility and gravitas to drive decision‑making.
- Ability to use a wide range of tools to deliver effective brand campaigns and assess data.
- Ability to network at a high level.
- Strong organisation and planning skills with the ability to work under pressure.
- Working with and implementation of CRM systems.
- Ability to deliver confident, appropriate and engaging presentations.
- Knowledge of publishing business models.
- Proven cultural awareness.
Experience
- Experienced Marketing Manager with experience of managing product portfolios in a global curriculum environment.
- Strong demonstrable experience in brand management and global brand initiatives applying a data‑driven approach to marketing.
- Solid experience of working in global teams and understanding regional variations and the impact on customer requirements.
- Solid experience in producing effective and impactful marketing assets for a wide variety of channels, including print and digital.
- Demonstrable experience of digital marketing skills e.g. introduction of and effective management of websites and social media.
- Preferred; experience of working in The Caribbean education market.
