Are you an experienced HR Manager seeking an autonomous role with significant impact? We're looking for a highly motivated HR Manager to partner with our MDL business, providing high-quality HR services to our Swansea distribution centre and supporting commercial functions in Basingstoke. This is an excellent opportunity to work closely with Senior Leadership and site management at MDL, offering expert HR advice and collaborating with the Head of HR on strategic organisational change projects. You will also manage and mentor an HR Assistant in Swansea.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Act as a trusted business partner, aligning HR services with business goals.
  • Design, lead, and implement HR initiatives (e.g., absence management, talent, L&D, engagement) in line with best practice and employment law.
  • Support the Head of HR in executing projects and managing change, including communications.
  • Oversee daily HR operations: payroll, recruitment, and employee relations.
  • Provide expert HR advice on employment legislation and best practices.
  • Coach and develop line managers for self-sufficiency in HR processes.
  • Identify and implement HR activity improvements.
  • Implement annual HR processes like salary reviews and performance evaluations.
  • Contribute to HR policy development and provide relevant management information.
  • Collaborate with wider HR functions (L&D, Reward).
  • Manage, mentor, and develop the HR Assistant.
  • Ensure consistent HR policy implementation across all business units.

What we are looking for:

  • Proven HR Manager experience (3+ years) with a strong track record in team management and development.
  • Ideally CIPD Level 7 qualified; degree desirable.
  • Strong understanding of HR policies, procedures, and employment laws.
  • Excellent commercial awareness, providing pragmatic HR advice and mitigating risk.
  • Exceptional communication skills (written/verbal) and ability to build relationships at all levels.
  • Flexible, assertive, proactive, and collaborative team player.
  • Ability to think critically and strategically, focusing on immediate and long-term business needs.
  • Highly organised, self-motivated, and discreet with confidential information.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office/Google Suite and quick to learn new systems.
  • Capable of working effectively under pressure, with good time management.
  • Experience in warehouse logistics or manufacturing is desirable.
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a cohesive environment for diverse staff.
  • Experience in medium-sized companies undergoing change.
