Location: Split between home and our London Office, minimum 1 day in the office per week.

About the role: Are you a lawyer interested in expanding your knowledge on contract and commercial law while working for a good cause? Can you manage your own workload, working at a fast pace? Are you committed to, and energised by, making a positive and valued contribution to the charity sector? If so, this could be the role for you.
You will work closely with a wide range of teams across Macmillan, including our Cancer Support Services, Technology, Fundraising and Marketing teams, advising on a wide range of contracts and legal issues, with support from senior lawyers in the team. Additionally, you will support our Information Governance, Procurement and other Compliance teams. You will focus on contracts for the supply of services, including general commercial services, technology, intellectual property and data processing contracts. You will also help to support on fundraising, grant-making and other charity related matters.
About you: The successful candidate will be an English & Welsh qualified solicitor, barrister or legal executive, with post-qualification experience in contract/commercial work, including related data protection issues. You will be able to work autonomously and manage your own workload. With the support of senior lawyers in the team, you will be comfortable offering practical, commercially sound advice, potentially outside your field of knowledge or expertise. Although a background working in-house or in charity law will be helpful, we are looking for a keen commitment to the sector and a strong desire to develop knowledge in these areas, as we can support with training on charity law and practice.
