About the role

We’re looking for a Marketing Executive to join our Fundraising Marketing team on a 6-month fixed-term contract, helping to deliver sector-leading fundraising campaigns. Working collaboratively with fundraising marketing leadership, this person will play a key role in the delivery of integrated marketing campaigns across a range of channels and fundraising products. Your work will be instrumental in raising money to ensure we can provide vital physical, emotional and financial support for people living with cancer. As a team, we are responsible for the marketing and project management of several large-scale fundraising campaigns, including Macmillan’s Coffee Morning and the Macmillan Lottery. In this role, you will support the delivery of a wide variety of campaigns, helping the team achieve ambitious fundraising and direct response objectives. This is a fantastic opportunity to further develop your marketing skills within one of the UK’s leading charities.

A typical week in this role might include:

  • Delivering key campaign actions to agreed schedules. This could include writing data, artwork or media briefs, circulating campaign materials for approval, and completing data or artwork checks
  • Leading a weekly call with an external agency partner to agree actions and keep projects on track
  • Reviewing campaign performance, reporting internally and identifying optimisations where appropriate
  • Supporting testing activity across campaigns to improve performance, engagement and ROI
  • Attending weekly catch-ups with your project manager to discuss campaign progress, blockers and priorities
  • Preparing for and attending monthly development meetings with your manager
  • Collaborating with internal teams and external partners to help deliver engaging fundraising and event campaigns

About you

We are looking for someone who has a foundation in the skills outlined in the section of the job description labelled ‘To do this role, you will have...’, so please make sure you clearly demonstrate these in your application. Unless specified, this does not need to be experience gained in a charity context – we are looking for someone with relevant experience and a willingness to learn about our charity context and deliver work in line with Macmillan’s values. If you meet the criteria in the role profile, we would love to hear from you.

Marketing skills: A solid foundation in marketing, fundraising marketing or project management skills developed in a professional setting

Results-focus: Experience monitoring campaign or project performance against targets, with an understanding of ROI and optimisation

Analytical/Solution-focused: A proactive approach to identifying project blockers or underperformance, alongside a collaborative approach to finding solutions

Testing and innovation: Experience supporting campaign testing, optimisation or innovation activity would be highly beneficial

Time management: Experience delivering work to set schedules and budgets

Communication: An ability to communicate clearly with a range of stakeholders via email, telephone and in person

Relationship management: An ability to build positive relationships with colleagues and external partners to enable productive collaboration on projects

Fundraising experience: Exposure to fundraising products, events or participation-led campaigns would be advantageous
