This role is part of the Macmillan Support Line and involves providing confidential information and support to people affected by cancer. You will empower people every day to understand their cancer diagnosis, treatments, side effects, and the impact of their cancer experience.
Pay range
This range is provided by Macmillan Cancer Support. Your actual pay will be based on your skills and experience — talk with your recruiter to learn more.
Contract type
Permanent or Fixed Term Contract – there are 6 permanent positions and 2 fixed‑term contracts for 18 months.
Working hours
The Support Line is available 365 days a year, including bank holidays, from 8 am to 8 pm. Shifts are on a 4‑week rota. We can discuss a compressed pattern if you are successful at the interview stage.

About you
You must be a registered nurse (Adult) with significant oncology experience at band 5 or above.
Successful candidates will demonstrate the following skills and experience:
- Significant experience as a first level registered nurse, preferably in a cancer specialty
- Degree in Nursing essential (or working towards)
- Experience delivering information and support in a busy, demand‑led environment, ideally with experience of delivering support virtually
- Ability to retrieve information from relevant sources including electronic databases and the Internet
As this is a home‑based role, you will also need:
- Experience using Microsoft Office, including Teams and other digital platforms
- A reliable broadband connection with upload and download speeds of at least 3 Mbps
- A private, confidential space to work from, in compliance with data protection rules
