Macklin Care Homes is recruiting a Support Worker (38.5 - 44 hours) to provide additional support within our well-established Mental Health unit, the Galway Suite.
The successful candidate will use compassion and clinical experience to help deliver high-quality resident care to individuals with a variety of mental health conditions.
This role offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the mental health field within a supportive and dynamic team.
- Professional Responsibilities
- Experience working within a mental health environment.
- Good working knowledge of The Mental Health Order (1986).
- Understanding of current approaches to mental health practice.
- Ability to collaborate with a challenging resident group positively.
- Ensure care plans are comprehensive and understandable by the resident.
- Support, encourage, and prompt residents with their medication.
- Accurately maintain documentation both manually and electronically.
- Ensure house rules are kept and adhered to, providing a safe environment.
- Communicate effectively with colleagues, residents, and visitors.
- Assist residents with booking and attending appointments.
- Support residents in daily tasks: self-care, shopping, and household tasks.
- Promote residents to develop their skills and increase their independence.
Qualifications
- Experience in a mental health setting.
- Knowledge of relevant mental health legislation and best practices.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and with residents in a supportive manner.
