Macklin Care Homes is recruiting a Support Worker (38.5 - 44 hours) to provide additional support within our well-established Mental Health unit, the Galway Suite.

The successful candidate will use compassion and clinical experience to help deliver high-quality resident care to individuals with a variety of mental health conditions.

This role offers an opportunity to contribute meaningfully to the mental health field within a supportive and dynamic team.

  • Professional Responsibilities
  • Experience working within a mental health environment.
  • Good working knowledge of The Mental Health Order (1986).
  • Understanding of current approaches to mental health practice.
  • Ability to collaborate with a challenging resident group positively.
  • Ensure care plans are comprehensive and understandable by the resident.
  • Support, encourage, and prompt residents with their medication.
  • Accurately maintain documentation both manually and electronically.
  • Ensure house rules are kept and adhered to, providing a safe environment.
  • Communicate effectively with colleagues, residents, and visitors.
  • Assist residents with booking and attending appointments.
  • Support residents in daily tasks: self-care, shopping, and household tasks.
  • Promote residents to develop their skills and increase their independence.

Qualifications

  • Experience in a mental health setting.
  • Knowledge of relevant mental health legislation and best practices.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team and with residents in a supportive manner.
