Senior Care Assistant (Nightshift)
Location: Our Ladys Home, 68 Ard Na Va Road, Belfast
About the role
Senior Care Assistant joins the nursing team in delivering high-quality, personalised care to residents, upholding the Patient Charter of Rights and Nursing Home Minimum Standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist residents with daily living activities: dressing, bathing, eating, and mobility.
- Provide compassionate care that meets residents’ physical, emotional, and social needs.
- Lead and collaborate with the care team, fostering a positive and professional working environment.
- Mentor and develop team members, encouraging continuous improvement.
- Maintain accurate care documentation in line with Home procedures.
- Advocate for residents and promote the Home’s mission, vision, and values.
- Support nursing staff in enforcing policy and procedural compliance.
- Ensure health and safety standards are met, maintaining a safe environment for residents and staff.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience in elderly or residential care with a record of high‑quality service.
- Knowledge of medication handling, administration, and documentation.
- Understanding of infection control, safeguarding, and health and safety guidelines.
- Empathetic, patient‑focused approach to resident needs.
- Ability to mentor junior staff and promote teamwork.
- Clear communication with residents, families, and colleagues.
- Rapid assessment and decision‑making in the best interest of the resident.
- Capacity to work under pressure and act independently.
- Professional personal presentation and attention to detail.
- Experience developing, implementing, and reviewing care plans.
- Commitment to ongoing training and development.
Desired Criteria
- Level 3 NVQ in Health and Social Care or equivalent. Additional qualifications such as First Aid, Manual Handling, or Medication Management are advantageous.
- Experience supervising or leading a team of care assistants.
