Job Purpose: You will be responsible for ensuring that all works are delivered in accordance with the project scope, specifications, and relevant legislation and industry standards. You will develop, maintain, and implement appropriate quality assurance documentation across design, procurement, and construction activities to ensure consistent and transparent compliance.
Responsibilities: As the Quality Manager your role will include but not be limited to the following:
- Manage the internal quality team, including Quality Advisors, Clerk of Works and Materials Manager.
- Review, update and maintain the Project Quality Plan.
- Support departments with the creation of project specific quality system procedures.
- Manage the development of Inspection and Test Plans and quality inspection checklists to ensure works are completed in line with the design.
- Monitor and review inspection and test results and ensure non-conformances are identified and addressed.
- Monthly reporting to client on quality, including defects, non-conformances, inspections and tests, audits and improvement plans.
- Liaise with the designers, client and client’s representatives in all aspects of quality.
- Review designs as they develop from concept through to detail design to ensure designs can be constructed to the required quality requirements.
- Work with project management and engineering staff to improve the quality of work on site. Suggest possible improvements on daily activities to ensure that production is maximised whilst ensuring quality is maintained at the highest level.
- Pro-active approach to, and management of defects, non-conformances and issues.
- Carry out second party and internal audits in accordance with BS EN ISO 19011.
- Ensure compliance with Water Supply (Water Quality) Regulations 2016.
Required qualifications, skills, experience:
- Skills & Knowledge:
- Knowledge of construction techniques, in particular water projects (desirable).
- Record keeping and data management skills.
- Strong communication skills and ability to discuss technical aspects with other technical & non-technical individuals.
- Good understanding of Quality management systems to ISO 9001.
- High level of attention to detail.
- Experience of large complex construction projects.
- Joint venture project experience would be advantageous.
- 8 years’ experience of Quality management within civil engineering projects.
- Full driving licence.
- CSCS card.
- Degree or HNC in Construction Management, Engineering or an industry related discipline.
- Lead Auditor to ISO 9001.
- Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook, SharePoint and PowerPoint.
- Experience of CDE’s and construction management software, such as Autodesk Construction Cloud.
